Edda Burber |
 | |
Fresh to New York City, Edda is a young, newly employed dancer in a prestigious, metropolitan ballet company, embarking on a life of her own, with her own loves, hopes and ambitions, and her own tax forms. |
Amos |
Edda's friend since childhood, Amos studies cello at the Juilliard School, in the same performing arts complex where Edda dances professionally. One of the biggest and newest conflicts in Amos' friendship with Edda is that they have also fallen in love, and handle the situation rather badly. |
Seth |
 | |
Seth Appleby, a native of Waco, Texas, is Edda's dance partner in the ballet company, and the person whose apartment she shares. An unabashed wearer of the Green Carnation, Seth is a romantic, plunging into love at the drop of a hat. He looks upon Edda and Amos, as he does all his friends, both maternally and with the protective instincts of an Irish Wolfhound. |

Juliette |
Edda's mother, Juliette, was for many years a professor of biology at a university in New Hampshire, until she gave in to her oldest pipe dream, quit her job and bought a farm. |
Gran |
 | |
Gran lives with Juliette, her daughter, and assists in running the farm, although she finds livestock disappointingly unresponsive to guilt as a motivator. |
Isabel |
A pianist from Portugal studying at Juilliard, Isabel Florin is the new, consciously alluring woman in Amos' life. She has taken an interest in him not only as his accompanist, but as a potential inamorata. Where Isabel is concerned, Amos is, nearly always, not up to speed. |
Burkhardt |
 | |
A violist from Vienna, also at Juilliard, Burkhardt's thoughts outside his profession focus entirely on good food and the opposite sex. He approaches both with the eagerness of a gourmand gazing upon new dishes. He never fancies permanent ties. His only female friend, anesthetic to his honed charm, is Isabel. |

Solange |
Residing in New York with Edda, Solange brings Feline entropy to pre-existing human disarray. |
Thorax |
 | |
Gran's beau, and the former owner of Juliette's farm, Thorax sells strange goods and services from roadside stands when he isn't ruminating on his alien origins or dusting off the quantum anomaly in the tractor shed. He moves through life as if from dimension to dimension, and often enough appears in other cartoon strips. |
